Ewalt’s Custom Programmable MP3 Warning Module (GM & Jeep)

Direct plug-and-play replacement for the factory warning buzzer in 1981–2002 GM trucks, cars, vans, and 1984–1996 Jeep XJ, YJ, and TJ platforms. Load any MP3 — modern chimes, engine sounds, movie quotes — with full OEM priority logic and dash light sync. Driven by an ATtiny84 microcontroller and genuine YX5200 audio silicon, the smart-logic processor ensures tracks never overlap or stutter.

FEATURES

Smart Audio Handling — Actively monitors playback state. Supports clips of any length (0.5-second dings to 3-minute songs) without overlap or stutter.

Custom Startup Sound — Fires a dedicated MP3 the instant ignition hits RUN. Engine roar, system chime, or custom audio. Single-shot, non-repeating.

Synchronized Dash Indicator — High-current MOSFET pulses your factory seatbelt cluster light in sync with audio, then holds solid if the belt stays unbuckled.

Intelligent Priority Sequencing — Prevents audio collisions. Background state monitoring prioritizes: Startup → Headlamps → Key-in-Ignition → Seatbelt.

OEM Seatbelt Nag Timer — Mimics modern GM logic: 5-chime burst at key-on, 60-second silent interval, repeat. Cancels instantly when belted.

Optocoupler-Isolated Inputs — All 12V trigger lines are decoupled from the MCU. No voltage spikes reaching the logic board.

COMPATIBILITY NOTES

Jeep Harness: Factory Jeep harnesses typically leave the headlight and key-in-ignition pins empty. The module plugs in and operates welcome + seatbelt functions immediately. Pin those two trigger wires if you want the additional warnings.

6-Pin vs 7-Pin: The 6-pin OEM modules omit the headlight-on warning (dimmer output). The 7-pin modules include headlight, key-in-ignition, and seatbelt inputs. All share the same physical connector footprint — this module covers both.

⚠ NOT COMPATIBLE — GMT800 / BCM Vehicles: Starting with the 1999–2002 Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe, and Yukon (GMT800) and 1998+ S-trucks, chime functions moved to the Body Control Module. These vehicles do not use a discrete chime module.

⚠ NOT COMPATIBLE — Class 2 Data Bus (2003+): On these platforms, the BCM commands the radio to generate chime tones over the Class 2 serial data bus. No discrete module is used.
