Everything you need to calibrate a GM auto trans

From single-table shift point math to full TCM pressure schedules, multi-mode tune sheets, and dyno log validation. Nothing else to buy.

Shift & TCC Tables

Upshift, downshift, WOT shift speed and RPM, plus TCC Lock and Unlock tables. Sized automatically per gear count, with iterative spread enforcement (up to 32 passes) so your tables never violate minimum MPH gaps.

TCM Pressure Tables

Base Shift Pressure, TCC Apply, Coast Pressure, and Garage Shift tables for 6L80, 8L90, 10L80 family. For 4L60E and 4L80E: Base Shift Pressure, Desired Shift Time, and TCC DC Maximum.

Multi-Mode Setup

Performance / Hot Trans / Cruise for 4-speeds, or Pattern A / Hot Trans / Pattern B for 6+ speeds. Intent presets for Racing, Towing, Eco, Hot ATF Protection — fully editable, save your own.

Log Import & Validation

Drop a VCM Scanner, EFILive, or CSV log. Auto-detects columns, extracts measured shift points, stall RPM, WOT slip %, ATF temp range. Compares against tool predictions. Pandas backend for 10-50× faster parsing.

Performance Simulator

Newton-integration vehicle dynamics. 0-30, 0-60, 0-100, 0-120, 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile predictions with shift-point timing analysis. Tunable Cd×A, Crr, launch grip, drivetrain efficiency.

Reverse Import

Paste an existing upshift table. The solver back-fits the Factor / Offset / Up Firmness / Shift RPM that produced it. Clone known-good tunes, migrate between PCMs, reverse-engineer OEM behavior.

Tune Sheet Reports

HTML report with config snapshot, all tables, validation findings, inline SVG plots. PDF tune sheet for customer hand-off with vehicle/tuner metadata, every table, and the performance prediction.

Profile Comparison

Load a second profile, get side-by-side table diffs with mean, min, and max delta per shift table. Color-coded cells by delta magnitude. Document before/after, A/B test intents, audit changes.

Live Preview

Ctrl+L enables debounced auto-recalc. Every spinbox change triggers a fresh table render in <500 ms. Iterate on Factor, Offset, and Spreads without touching F5.

Quick Start

From blank to clipboard in 5 minutes

A real workflow: pick a starter profile, adjust three numbers, calculate, paste.

Load a Starter Profile

File → Load Preset — pick the closest match. LS1 Camaro, LS3 SS, LT1 C7, ZL1, 5.3 truck, L87 Silverado, LBZ or L5P Duramax.

Adjust the Drivetrain

Tab 1: tire diameter, axle ratio, vehicle weight. Everything downstream scales from these three.

Set the RPM Envelope

Tab 2: shift RPM, stall RPM, Min TCC RPM, accel and WOT lock gears. The validation banner flags overrev risk and TCC hunt conditions.

Calculate & Validate

Press F5. Tables generate, the heatmap renders, the validation banner reports any issues. Fix the warnings, recalculate.

Export to HP Tuners

Press F6. The export dialog stays on top. Pick the TCM era (07-13 combined or 14+ separate). Click Copy Table.

Paste & Save

Switch to VCM Editor, click the top-left cell of the matching TCM table, Ctrl+V. Repeat per table. Save the .hpt file. Flash it. You're done.

FAQ

Common questions

Which GM transmissions are supported?
Every GM automatic from the 1996 OBD-II rollout through current production: 4L60E, 4L65E, 4L70E, 4L80E, 4L85E (RWD 4-speed); 6L45, 6L50, 6L80, 6L90 (RWD 6-speed); 8L45, 8L90 (RWD 8-speed); 10L80, 10L90 (RWD 10-speed); 4T40E / 4T45E / 4T60E / 4T65E / 4T65E-HD / 4T80E (FWD 4-speed); 6T30 / 6T40 / 6T45 / 6T50 / 6T70 / 6T75 (FWD 6-speed); Allison 1000 5-speed and 6-speed; Aisin AS6 and AS69 (Duramax HD).
Does it work with HP Tuners VCM Editor?
Yes. Output tables paste directly into HP Tuners VCM Editor TCM tables. The export dialog stays on top during paste workflows. Era-aware table layout selection handles both the 07-13 6L family (combined Up+Dn tables — TCM 15000 / 15050 / 15051) and 14+ all families (separate Up and Dn tables — TCM 15028 / 15034 / 15337 / 15338 and successors per gear).
Can I import existing dyno logs to validate my tune?
Yes. The log import feature (F8) reads VCM Scanner, EFILive, and CSV logs. Column-name matching is fuzzy and case-insensitive, so most logger output works out of the box. The analyzer extracts measured shift points, stall peak RPM, WOT slip percentage, and ATF temp range, then compares against tool predictions. Install pandas for 10-50× faster parsing of large logs (recommended for any log over 1 MB).
Is a torque curve required?
No. Basic shift table calculation works from a single RWHP scalar. A loaded HP/TQ vs RPM curve enables two extra features: Time-mode WOT lead (physics-based, more accurate than RPM-mode geometric lead), and the Performance Simulator (Newton-integration 0-60 and 1/4 mile prediction). Import a curve from a dyno CSV, pick a built-in preset (LS3, LT4, LBZ, LSA, etc.), or enter rows manually with auto-fill (TQ = HP × 5252 / RPM).
What's the difference between RPM mode and Time mode for WOT lead?
RPM mode computes lead geometrically from gear ratios — higher ratio means more inertia, so more lead. It ignores vehicle weight and HP. Time mode is physics-based: acceleration rate = RWHP × 0.75 × 375 / V / Weight (MPH per second), then lead = accel_rate × shift_delay. Time mode uses per-gear shift delays from the Edit Shift Delays dialog and is more accurate when weight and RWHP inputs are correct. Use Time mode for competition tunes; RPM mode is fine for street.
What computer specs do I need?
Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), Display 1500 × 900 minimum (1920 × 1080 recommended for full pressure table visibility). 512 MB free RAM (4 GB+ when working with large logs). Less than 50 MB disk for the installer.
Will it generate Multi-Mode tables (Tow/Haul, PAL, etc.)?
Yes. Enable Options → Generate Multi-Mode Tables. For 4-speeds you get Normal + Performance + Hot Trans + Cruise. For 6+ speeds you get Normal + Pattern A + Hot Trans + Pattern B. Each non-Normal slot has an intent preset (Racing, Towing, Eco, Hot ATF Protection, Cruise / Light Foot) that applies delta or absolute overrides to the Normal config. You can edit overrides per mode and save custom intents that persist across sessions.
Can I reverse-engineer an existing tune's parameters?
Yes. Tools → Reverse-Import Table accepts a pasted upshift table (17 columns × N-1 rows, tab- or space-delimited). The solver finds the Factor / Offset / Up Firmness / Shift RPM combination that best matches the table for your currently selected trans and drivetrain. Useful for cloning a known-good tune, migrating between PCMs, or understanding what OEM calibrators chose.
What output formats does it produce?
Three: (1) Clipboard tab-delimited cells for direct paste into HP Tuners VCM Editor or TunerPro. (2) CSV export of any individual table. (3) Self-contained HTML report with all tables, validation findings, and inline SVG shift-curve plot. (4) Multi-page landscape PDF tune sheet with vehicle metadata, every table, and the performance prediction (PDF requires the optional reportlab package).
