2012–2017 Chevy Equinox / GMC Terrain ABS Control Module (EBCM) — Programmed to Your VIN

from $199.00

PIN-Secured — We Handle It

The ABS Control Module on the 2012–2017 Equinox and Terrain is PIN-secured. A replacement module can't simply be programmed without extracting the security PIN from your original unit first. That's what we do — you send us your old EBCM, we pull the PIN, and program your replacement with your VIN and the latest GM calibration updates.

Your original EBCM must be sent in regardless of which option you choose. We need it to retrieve the PIN.

Two Options — You Choose

Option 1: Send Us Your EBCM — $199

You already have a replacement. Ship us your old EBCM and your replacement — we extract the PIN from the old one, program the new one to your VIN, and send it back.

  1. Order and provide your VIN at checkout.

  2. Ship us your original EBCM and your replacement EBCM.

  3. We extract the PIN and program your replacement.

  4. We ship your programmed EBCM back. Install and go.

Option 2: Buy a Programmed EBCM — $550

Don't have a replacement. Ship us your old EBCM — we extract the PIN, program one of our tested units to your VIN, and ship it to you.

  1. Order and provide your VIN at checkout.

  2. Ship us your original EBCM.

  3. We extract the PIN and program a replacement from our inventory.

  4. We ship your programmed EBCM. Install and go.

How to Know Your ABS Module Has Failed

The EBCM manages your ABS, traction control, and electronic stability control. When it fails, braking and stability systems are compromised. Common symptoms:

ABS Warning Light On The ABS light illuminates and stays on. The most common first sign of EBCM failure on the Equinox and Terrain.

StabiliTrak / Traction Control Disabled Warning messages for StabiliTrak and traction control appear on the DIC and both systems shut off. The EBCM can no longer process wheel speed data properly.

ABS Activating During Normal Braking You feel the brake pedal pulsate or hear the ABS pump cycling during normal low-speed stops on dry pavement. The EBCM is misinterpreting wheel speed signals and activating ABS when it shouldn't.

Hard or Unresponsive Brake Pedal The pedal feels firmer than normal or braking response is reduced. The EBCM controls the hydraulic valves in the ABS pump assembly — electronic failure affects hydraulic control.

Service ESC / Service Traction Control Messages The Driver Information Center displays service warnings for the electronic stability and traction control systems.

Multiple Wheel Speed Sensor DTCs Codes like C0035, C0040, C0045, C0050 across multiple corners. If you've already replaced sensors and the codes return, the EBCM is the problem.

What Is an ABS Control Module?

The Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) is integrated into the ABS pump assembly and manages anti-lock braking, traction control, and electronic stability control. It reads wheel speed data from sensors at all four corners and controls hydraulic pressure to individual brake circuits to prevent lockup and maintain vehicle stability.

The EBCM on this platform is PIN-secured. A replacement cannot be programmed without first extracting the security PIN from the original module. This is why your old unit must be sent in — even if it's completely dead, we can still extract the PIN from it.

After Installation

After installing the programmed EBCM, clear any stored DTCs with a scan tool. The ABS, traction control, and StabiliTrak warning lights should turn off after the codes are cleared and a short test drive.

If warning lights persist after installation, contact us — we can help troubleshoot remotely.

Why Buy From Us?

The PIN requirement on these modules makes replacement a nightmare for most shops. They either can't extract the PIN, don't have the tools, or send you to the dealer where the programming fee alone exceeds what we charge for the complete service. We have the tooling to extract the PIN from your original module — even if it's failed — and program a tested replacement with the latest GM calibration. No dealer, no runaround.

If you have questions about your specific vehicle or part number, contact us before ordering.
